A meaningful visit program was carried out by first-year students of our Vocational School's Health Institutions Management Program with the aim of preserving societal values, strengthening national unity and solidarity, and increasing awareness of social responsibility. On Thursday, May 14, 2026, as part of the "Our Values" course, under the leadership of our Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selim Güngör and with the contributions of the Reşadiye Social Services Center, students visited the parents of our heroic martyr Ömer Yılmaz, who was martyred in Beytüşşebap district of Şırnak in 1998, Eyüp Yılmaz and Fatma Yılmaz, as well as the family of our Cyprus War veteran Ahmet Yıldız and his esteemed wife Nazile Yıldız. During the visit, our students had the opportunity to closely observe the spiritual value that martyr families and veterans hold for our society; they met with the families of our heroes who made sacrifices for the homeland and shared their feelings and thoughts. During the program, our students had the opportunity to listen to the memories, experiences, and stories of our martyr's family and our veteran; this meaningful meeting aimed to increase their awareness of national and spiritual values, develop a sense of social solidarity, and strengthen intergenerational communication. As part of the visit, our students celebrated Mother's Day on May 10th with Fatma Yılmaz, the precious mother of our martyr Ömer Yılmaz, and Nazile Yıldız, the precious wife of our Cyprus veteran Ahmet Yıldız; they presented them with flowers, creating emotional moments. This meaningful gesture aimed to contribute to our students' internalization of values such as loyalty, respect, and social sensitivity. The visit program was also attended by Selim Bolat, the Reşadiye District National Education Director and our external stakeholder; Cihat Yakar, the Reşadiye District National Education Branch Manager; and Talha Külekçi, the Psychological Counselor from the Reşadiye Social Services Center. The program emphasized the exceptional place of martyr families and veterans in our society. The importance of raising young generations as individuals committed to historical and national values has been highlighted. This event has been a significant practice contributing not only to the academic development of our students but also to their development in terms of ethical values, social responsibility, loyalty, and social sensitivity. This meaningful meeting with our martyr families and veterans has significantly contributed to our students' awareness of social memory, national consciousness, and human values. We would like to thank the precious family of our martyr Ömer Yılmaz, Eyüp Yılmaz and Fatma Yılmaz, and our Cyprus War veteran Ahmet Yıldız and his precious wife Nazile Yıldız and their family for their kind hospitality and sincere acceptance; we also express our gratitude to the officials of the Reşadiye Social Services Center who contributed to the realization of the program, the institution representatives who participated in the program, and our students who successfully represented our Vocational School. Our Vocational School prioritizes the development of our students' academic knowledge and professional competencies, as well as their upbringing in line with fundamental human values such as social responsibility, commitment to national and spiritual values, ethical sensitivity, empathy, and social awareness. Through the social and cultural activities carried out within this framework, the aim is to contribute to the individual development of our students, strengthen their sense of social solidarity, and raise them as individuals with high social awareness.
